Classic Days, Magny-Cours 2013 2 – 7 MAY

We were hugely impressed with this lively event when we previously attended it. 2013 will see the sixth running of this large gathering based at the former Grand Prix Circuit at Magny Cours. In 2012 there were over 1000 classic cars there to create a spectacular spectacle both in the paddocks and on the circuit as well.

The weekend consists of a gentle tour around the Nievre region taking place on either Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. Otherwise you can take to the circuit for the track sessions with the opportunity to drive on the circuit several times during the weekend. There are also many demonstrations of important cars that take place and a trade village with a French flavour; with memorabilia, parts and souvenirs etc., to keep you busy throughout the weekend.

Thursday 2 May

Join our pre-organised priority loading lines at Portsmouth for the overnight Brittany Ferries sailing into Caen. Your onboard accommodation is reserved for you and there is time for a drink in the bar or a bite before retiring to it.

Friday 3 May

Arriving into France early this morning we will take an attractive route for Magny Cours, crossing the Loire, via a lunch stop. Our hotel is situated on the circuit and we will meet in the evening for a welcome drink and dinner at the hotel.

Saturday 4 May

After breakfast at the hotel we drive into the circuit to our reserved parking area. For those taking part in the track laps there are three 20 minute sessions throughout the weekend. Lunch is included at the circuit. For those taking the option to participate in the Classic Tour this departs in the afternoon for a relaxed 80 km run with prizes for those that complete the quiz on both days. This evening we will have dinner at the circuit with a concert laid on.

Sunday 5 May

Today the optional classic tour takes place in the morning and the track sessions continue throughout the day. Lunch is included at the circuit once again. Tonight is a free evening.

Monday 6 May

After breakfast at the hotel we return to Normandy for the afternoon sailing from Caen to Portsmouth arriving back into England later that evening. For those wishing to take more time on their return, please advise us if you prefer the overnight boat or indeed to extend your stay in France.
