Cameron House to Inverlochy Castle via Glencoe

  • Wednesday 5th October
  • Driving Distance: 184 miles
  • Driving Time: 4.5 hours

Leaving Cameron House this morning after breakfast we will initially head north to the beautiful Loch Fyne, driving alongside this stunning loch, before heading to the west coast for a scenic drive to the historic town of Oban. Where we will have lunch.

There is no morning coffee stop, because after lunch, we will head inland and drive the world-famous Glencoe Road, a driving road of unparalleled beauty. Here we will stop at the Kingshouse Hotel for afternoon tea, before continuing our journey west to our overnight accommodation at stunning Inverlochy Castle. This 19th Centrury castle is situated in the foothills of Ben Nevis and is considered Scotland's finest Country Hotel. This evening we will have a stunning dinner, the menu brought to you by Michel Roux Jr and surrounded by elaborate furniture gifted to the castle by the King of Norway.

Inverlochy Castle to Ness Walk Hotel, Inverness via Dornie

  • Thursday 6th October
  • Driving Distance: 140 miles
  • Driving Time: 3 hours
  • or Driving Distance: 215 miles
  • Driving Time: 5 hours

Leaving the beautiful surroundings of Inverlochy we will head north to Inverness today, via some more incredible driving roads.

Initially our route will take us along the shores of Loch Linnhe on onto Fort William. Then at Invergarry, our route swings west on the A87 to the Eilean Donan Castle, where we will lunch nearby.

This afternoon there are two routes to Inverness. A shorter more direct route via the A832 of 76 miles, or for the more adventurous, a longer 153 mile route via Loch Maree and Loch Ewe and Braemore, before heading into Inverness. It is a stunning driving route, forming part of the Wester Ross circuit of the North Coast 500, and one we highly recommend.

Our overnight stay this evening is at the lovely Ness Walk Hotel in the heart of Inverness and on the banks of the River Ness.

The evening is free for you to explore the city and dine in a restaurant of your choosing, as dinner this evening is not included in the tour. For the less adventurous, we will book some tables at the hotel, which you will be free to make use of. The hotel restaurant has great food and a lovely atmosphere.

Ness Walk Hotel to Old Manse of Blair Hotel, Blair Atholl

  • Friday 7th October
  • Driving Distance: 79 miles
  • Driving Time: 1 hours 30 minutes
  • Or Driving Distance: 137 miles
  • Driving Time: 3 hours 45 minutes

This morning we will leave the hotel after breakfast and begin our journey south. We have organised two options today –

A shorter 76 mile driving route - as we will be staying at the Old Manse of Blair Hotel and we thought it would be a good opportunity to give you the afternoon to explore Blair Atholl and its surrounds. There is of course Blair Castle and the Blair Gardens, as well as down the road, The House of Bruar country department store and whisky shop. We will have lunch here to get your afternoon started, if you choose this option.

A longer 137 mile route via the fabulous village of Braemar, host of the Queens Highland Games and the eccentric Fife Arms Hotel and then down the Old Military Road before heading to Blair Atholl.

Once you have explored either option, we can check into our rooms at the stunning and newly renovated Old Manse of Blair Hotel for a relaxing evening and three course meal served with paired wines.

Old Manse of Blair Hotel to Greywalls Chez Roux Hotel via Knockhill and Gleneagles

  • Saturday 8th October
  • Driving Distance: 159 miles
  • Driving Time: 3 hours 15 minutes

Following breakfast we will leave the Old Manse of Blair and continue our journey south and our final destination of Greywalls Hotel & Chez Roux, just outside Edinburgh. This stunning hotel is on the fairways of the home of Golf, Muirfield, and the perfect place to end our tour.

But not before we visit two rather exciting destinations. First up, Knockhill Race Track for a few laps around the ‘Nurburgring of Scotland’. This short, tight and twisty circuit is huge fun, and we will have a few laps behind a safety car in the morning to let our hair down and enjoy our cars on track for about 15 minutes.

We will then leave Knockhill and drive half an hour to the world famous Gleneagles Resort for lunch. A leisurely drive following lunch will see us pass the outskirts of Dunblane and Edinburgh to arrive at Greywalls mid to late afternoon.

Time to relax, and explore the wonderful gardens of Greywalls and look across the famous fairways of Muirfield, often being able to see and hear migrating Geese overhead, before our farewell three course dinner and wines before retiring to the drawing room for a night cap.

End of the tour

  • Sunday 9th October

After a wonderful few days in Scotland, we will enjoy breakfast in the Greywalls Hotel before departing for home. If you have a long journey ahead of you, please let us know if we can help with any recommendations on how best to break up your journey.
