Arctic Trucks Iceland adventure

Wednesday 14th October | London Heathrow to Iceland | Arrival
Your day will start at London Heathrow (other airports are available) with a direct flight with Icelandair at 13.05 hrs (3.5 hours) to Reykjavik. Once you have landed into Keflavik International Airport at 15:10 hrs, you will be met by the Arctic Trucks team and taken by private transfer to your hotel in central Reykjavik. With a relaxed start to your trip, you are free to enjoy the afternoon in the capital and take a stroll into town or take in the sights in the harbour.

This evening you will meet collectively as a group in the hotel bar where you will be given an informal run through of the days ahead by the Arctic Trucks experts. Following the briefing, you will be led on a short walk to your welcome dinner at the Fiskfélagið Restaurant.

Icelandic Adventure

Thursday 15th October | Exploring Golden Circle and Bruarfoss
Today will start by taking a transfer to the Arctic Trucks HQ to collect your very own AT38 Toyota Hilux for your Iceland road trip. These trucks are specially designed for the type of terrain you are likely to encounter such as snow, mountain terrain, lava fields, rivers and glaciers.

It is now time to get to know your truck with a briefing and walk through from the Arctic Trucks experts. The first drive of the day will be to the picturesque National Park of Thingvellir. Here you will take a short hike in between the 2 tectonic plates that divide Europe from America. You will then continue towards a lesser known waterfall known as Bruarfoss. Visiting Bruarfoss is a real treat as it is closed to the public. The group will stop for lunch at the cosy geothermal greenhouse of Fridheimar.

From here its time to take the trucks into the environments they were built for. You will drive through rivers, on the bare and moon-like landscape of the highlands and learn how to drive on the glaciers by deflating and inflating your tyres where required. After some exhilarating driving, you will enjoy a hot cocoa moment on the glacier.

Later on in the afternoon, you have the option to be met by helicopters and fly above the Langjökull Glacier to take in the stunning views of the glacier from the air*.

This evening, following your first day of driving Iceland’s stunning roads, the group will check into the Hotel, The Stracta where you will also be dining together this evening. The Stracta will be your hotel for the next two nights.

*Helicopter flights are subject to an additional fee.

Iceland

Friday 16th October | Exploring the Valley of Thor
This morning, the tour departs after breakfast to admire the unique sights of South Iceland. Your first stop of the day is the spectacular waterfall of Seljalandsfoss where you will have time to take in the most incredible picturesque sights. From here you will continue on gravel roads driving between two glaciers and crossing a few unbridged glacier rivers before arriving at Þórsmörk valley, at the foot of Mýrdalsjökull glacier and Katla volcano. Here you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the Valley.

As you continue your drive, you will enter Thórsmörk Valley for a break at the Gígjökull outlet glacier and Stakkholtsgjá canyon to explore its hidden waterfall. You will then take a short hike to admire the surrounding glaciers before heading back to the Stracta hotel for dinner where you can recap on what was an incredible day.

Blu Lagoon Retreat Iceland

Saturday 17th October | 1000 River Road and Blue Lagoon Retreat
Today, your adventure continues as you head back towards Hellisheiði plateau. You will drive through a challenging mountain track called the ‘1000 river road’ where you will take in some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world.

The tour will arrive at the amazing ‘Lava Tunnel’ just in time for lunch. Here you will enjoy a picnic lunch within a cabin close to the cave. Once you have refuelled your truck, you will continue the passage through the Blue Mountains and enjoy some 4x4 driving on the lava fields of Vigdisarvellir. You will stop to admire the moon-like landscapes of the Reykjanes Peninsula with plenty of photo opportunities.

In the late afternoon, the tour will arrive at the world famous Blue Lagoon and enjoy the afternoon at this renowned spa, the perfect way to end a few days of adventuring. You will stay overnight at the Blue Lagoon Silica Hotel and enjoy your finale dinner here.
