Le Mans Test Weekend

Enjoy the spectacle of the Le Mans 24hrs race under test conditions ahead of the race meeting. The test weekend allows for the teams and drivers to finalise their preparation for the most famous motor race of the year.

This trip incorporates ferry crossings, meals, and scenic drives to Le Mans. At the circuit, we will grant you access to pit garages allowing you to get up close and personal with drivers, teams and the cars. Away from the circuit, we've lined up accommodation at one of the most famous motorsport hotels in the world, The Hotel de France in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. We'll also visit some local attractions such as the 24hr Museum and we'll partake in some go-karting and sim driving. Throughout the tour, you will be accompanied by Maitland Cook who will host and talk about his time working under motor racing legend John Wyer and his team that raced the Ford GT40, Porsche 917, and Mirage Ford with conspicuous success.

THE ITINERARY

Thursday 4th June
We will congregate at C&M mid-afternoon before driving together to the south coast. We will re-convene at Portsmouth International Ferry Port in time for a 20:15 hrs crossing to St Malo.

Once onboard the ship, you can find your cabin accommodation and relax before meeting your tour companions for a drink in the bar. We have made a reservation in the ships highly respected ‘Les Abers’ restaurant for dinner and wine included in your crossing. Following dinner, there's a chance for a nightcap in the bar before retiring to your cabin for a good night's sleep.

Friday 5th June
Our ship docks into St Malo, France at 08:15 hrs. Upon leaving the port we head South to our first rendezvous point of the day just past Rennes. Coffee and croissants await us at the fabulous Manoir de l’Automobile, which houses one man’s spectacular car collection.

Once suitably refreshed, we will take to the private circuit situated next to the museum. The circuit is ours for the morning to have a play before we head East to the Hotel de France, our base for the next three nights. This evening we convene for welcome drinks in the bar before dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. This evening with dinner you will be addressed by Le Mans legend Maitland Cook as he tells us about his time working with John Wyer racing and why the Hotel de France is so significant to Le Mans.

Saturday 6th June
Having enjoyed a traditional French breakfast at the hotel, we begin our route to the Le Mans 24 Hours circuit. We will drive the very route used by the team cars driving to and from the circuit between 1953 and 1963, including the 1959 winning cars from the Hotel de France to the circuit. Once at the circuit, we will be given a behind the scenes tour of the site and will then make our way onto the track for a parade and special photo opportunity underneath the famous Dunlop bridge.

Following lunch, we will have an opportunity to get competitive at the local go-karting and simulator racing centre. We have arranged for driver qualifying and some racing in karts as well as the opportunity to experience some of the state-of-the-art sim racing facilities. We will then head back to the hotel to enjoy a relaxing evening and a second evening meal at the hotel.

Sunday 7th June
This morning following breakfast, we head back to the circuit for the official test day. We are guests of Aston Martin Racing and have been invited to the garage to see the team working on the cars as they prepare for the 24 hour weekend. Expect sights, smells and sounds that will leave stick with you for quite some time. The day is yours to enjoy with able viewing opportunities over-looking the circuit and the pit garages. We will meet again in the bar at the Hotel de France before our 3rd and final meal at the hotel.

Monday 8th June
A leisurely start this morning with time to relax at the hotel or wander around the town of La Chartre-sur-le-Loir. There is time to take a light lunch at the hotel should you wish before departing for the port of Caen to check-in for the 1630hrs sailing.
