Grand Prix de Pau Historique

23rd - 29th May 2017

The Grand Prix de Pau Historique remains one of our favourites on the Historic Motor racing calendar. A lovely old city with thrilling views of the Pyrenees, this is the oldest and most exciting of the remaining street circuits and provides great racing and a convivial atmosphere. Our central hotel is adjacent to the track, with excellent parking.

Itinerary

Tuesday 23rd May

Join the tour in Portsmouth for the overnight sailing to Caen, we have arranged priority embarkation so we can board together. We then gather for a welcome drink and the opportunity to meet the other tour participants. Your on board accommodation is included.

Wednesday 24th May

Our first stop is to one of our favourite coffee stops in the old town of Putanges, before we continue on selected roads to the Hotel de France in the small town of La-Chartre-sur-le-Loir. Here a fabulous lunch is included. In the afternoon we cross North of Tours to our first overnight at the stunning Fontevraud L’hotel where we have dinner prepared for us by their acclaimed chef.

Thursday 25th May

After breakfast we continue South via the selected routes towards our overnight stay at a Chateau hotel situated near to Bergerac.

Friday 26th May

Today we have suggested a pleasant route down to Pau, with a characterful lunch stop at a wonderful ferme auberge in Gascony.

We arrive at our central hotel in Pau in time to explore the old town and wander the numerous but intensely ’French styled’ pop up bars in the Boulevard d’Aragon. If we so wish we can take up the Mayor’s personal invitation to park our cars in the ‘Place Royale’, to form a static display under the watchful eye of overnight security.

Saturday 27th May

Today you will have tickets for the practice and racing, with special parking by the circuit and access to the paddock and main grandstands. We have arranged parade laps of the circuit today so you obtain a driver’s eye view of this spectacular circuit. Lunch is included today for us in a private room at a restaurant in the centre of the paddock. After lunch you can enjoy the rest of the racing, your evening is free to do as you wish. We can advise about restaurants etc.

Sunday 28th May

Today a tour ‘Finale’ lunch is included for the group in the paddock restaurant. This evening is again free to enjoy ‘old’ Pau, as you wish.

Monday 29th May

After breakfast at the hotel we make our way to Santander for the cruise ferry back to Portsmouth arriving on Tuesday afternoon.

Alternatively extend your stay and take in our three night Pyrenean adventure! See your extension plan below:

Pyrenean Adventure
29th May - 1st June 2017

This three night extension to the Grand Prix de Pau Historique takes you on an adventure into and across the Pyrenees.
