LE MANS CLASSIC

29th JUNE to 3rd JULY 2023

OVERVIEW

Classic GT has run a highly popular tour to the fabled event since its inception in 2000. We cross the channel overnight by Ferry before taking a scenic route to Le Mans the following day via the famous Hotel de France in La Chartre-sur-le-Loir for lunch.

We have two accommodation options for the weekend. The IBIS Styles hotel located at the end of the Mulsanne Straight, where you are conveniently located for the weekend, with a ten-minute drive to the circuit. We also include an exclusive dinner on the Friday evening at this hotel on the terrace with the sun going down, a glass of champagne and watching the race cars in their qualifying sessions.

The alternative is a fabulous chateau just 10 miles from the Le Mans Circuit which we have taken exclusively for our clients. The six bedroom (all en-suite) Chateau is absolutely stunning and offers some peace and tranquility from the busy race track for 12 of our guests, with a fabulous dinner on the Friday evening at a restaurant close by.

During the day, you make your way to the circuit, to take in the incredible sights and sounds of the historic cars that are the cornerstones of the history of ‘the greatest race in the world’. We have centre circuit parking, paddock access and seats on one of the best grandstand at the track, all reserved for you over the course of the whole weekend.

This year, we will have our usual setup, but you asked us to make some improvements and so we have done just that. We will have a better position on the circuit, the marquee itself will be bigger (much bigger), with a Barista serving coffee and other refreshments all day. Also available will be a fabulous luxury picnic basket with wine made up for two people for lunch on both Saturday and Sunday, which is an optional extra. On Saturday evening you have the option of dinner at Espace Privilege in the Paddocks if you wish.

After a weekend of intense motorracing and fun, we will tour back on the Monday to take the late afternoon ferry home, filled with wonderful memories of having celebrated the centenary of this incredible race with the very cars that made it so famous.

ITINERARY

DAY 1 - PORTSMOUTH TO ST MALO
THURSDAY 29TH JUNE
Meet at Portsmouth for evening ferry crossing to France. You will have a cabin booked as part of your crossing tickets.

The atmosphere onboard is great, with the boat filled with classic cars and race fans all making their way down to this event.

There is an optional welcome dinner in the Les Arbers Restaurant onboard for those wanting to get into the spirit of the event early on!

You will be guided to a loading line and our experienced staff will ensure you are carefully parked aboard the ship. Once on board, you can locate your cabin accommodation and then head for the restaurant, or bar, to join the throng of like-minded motor racing and car enthusiasts all heading to Le Mans.

DAY 2 - ST MALO TO LE MANS (VIA LE CHARTRE-SUR-LE-LOIR)
FRIDAY 30th JUNE
Tour down to Le Mans, via the Hotel de France for lunch – 200 miles
We plan a scenic route on some great driving roads, away from the traffic, through pretty French villages and countryside, past Châteaux and orchards to the legendary Hotel de France in the small town of La-Chartre-sur-le-Loir. Today, we will enjoy lunch in the hotel’s restaurant, a special opportunity as the hotel is always in great demand over this weekend.

The atmosphere in the town during the Le Mans race weekend is very special, as is the town square in front of the hotel. The hotel itself is filled with motor racing history and is the focal point for car enthusiasts from around the world. You can immerse yourself in the Friday pre-race atmosphere, specific to this iconic hotel as, throughout the day, the square becomes a destination for amazing cars and personalities.

After lunch, when you are ready, you can drive to the circuit to see some of the practice races or head straight for the hotel located at the end of the Mulsanne Straight or your Chateau. After an exciting first day, we will hold a welcome drinks reception and buffet dinner on the balcony overlooking the circuit at the IBIS Hotel or at the Le Mans Based Chateau depending on where you are staying.

DAY 3 - LE MANS CLASSIC - Day 1

SATURDAY 1st JULY

Le Mans Classic Day 1

After breakfast, you can head into the circuit at Le Mans. Over the weekend you can enjoy our privileged car parking spot on the infield of the Bugatti circuit, where you have refreshments throughout the weekend in our hospitality area, plus an optional high-quality picnic basket lunch on Saturday and Sunday.

If you have booked the optional track laps with us, today is your day of fun!! We will manage the logistics of this with you on the day, but it is huge fun and those lucky enough to get the limited opportunity to do so, all return with huge smiles on their faces!

As Classic Grand Touring’s hospitality marquee is on the route from the Paddocks to the track, all the cars taking part in all races will be passing by, bringing the grid line ups of fantastic cars right to us. This offers superb photo opportunities and puts us right in the centre of the action.

An optional dinner on Saturday night will be in the Espace Privilege at 19:00. Located in the heart of the paddock village, this seated table service dining experience offers a superb view of the track, with a Michelin starred menu with all drinks included.

As the racing continues through the night, after our dinner you may choose to stay on and watch the action from the grandstand, or the paddock or return to your accommodation for some rest.

DAY 4 - LE MANS CLASSIC - Day 2

SUNDAY 2nd JULY
Le Mans Classic Day 2
As the 24-hour event continues, following breakfast you can return to the circuit at your leisure. Our marquee will be operational from early morning and you can explore the Le Mans Classic Village, watch the racing from your seat in the Grandstand, or simply put your feet up in our marquee and watch the cavalcade of cars roll past. As we are situated amongst one of Europe’s largest ‘car club’ gatherings, this is a spectacle in itself.

DAY 5 - LE MANS TO PORTSMOUTH (VIA CAEN FERRY)

MONDAY 3rd JULY
Return drive to Caen and Ferry home
Following a more leisurely breakfast this morning, we will make our way up to Caen for the return ferry home.

You might want to stock up on beer, wines and local food specialities (if car space allows!) before setting off for your return journey across the Channel.
