Martin is an archetypal entrepreneur. As if running the very successful and fast paced Stenball group construction company wasn’t enough to keep him busy. Martin became a shareholder of Classic Grand Touring in 2012 and has been very hands on and influential in it’s operation ever since. Martin is a ‘dyed in the wool’ petrolhead regularly campaigning his Blower Bentley at Le Mans Classic or demonstrating his Porsche 962 at events round Europe.
Martin completed the purchase of the Hotel de France in la Chartre-sur-le-Loir at the end of 2013. This iconic hotel is steeped in Motorsport history, with John Wyer basing his Aston Martin, GT40 and Mirage race teams there through the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. The hotel has undergone a sympathetic refurbishment and is now getting rave reviews from those that stay there.
More recently, Martin’s latest venture is the Barley Mow pub at Tilford. Once the favourite watering hole of F1 racer Mike Hawthorn. This quintessentially English pub looks out over the cricket green and sits alongside a pretty stream. Watch this space for future classic car meetings here.
